Introduction to Mechanical Engineering :
Mechanical engineering is the key discipline of Jiangxi Province in the “Eleventh Five-Year” and “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” and the “13th Five-Year Plan” of Jiangxi Province. After more than 20 years of construction and development, it serves local regional economy and railway equipment industry. Four distinctive research directions and outstanding research directions have been formed, and a number of landmark results have been achieved and more significant social and economic benefits have been achieved.
The characteristics of discipline:
For low level of mechanization and automation in the agricultural postpartum separating technology, this discipline made studies which are about the photoelectric detection forthe internal quality of fruitofthebasic theory, the key technology and the intelligent device. Much researched localized equipment about the citrusthick-peelfruit, such as photoelectric separatingdevice, up-mountain orchard’s machinery and so on, is widely applied in many main fruit-producing areas like Gannan navel orange. Inthe overall level, those devices have reached the international advanced level or partly, and can replaceimports, so that promote the commercial value of the fruit. To solve the problem of running quality of the rolling stock, this discipline has been conducting a study on wheel-rail relationofrolling stocks, systematic dynamics, operational technology and creates multiple research methods such as wheel-rail friction and wear of rolling stocks, rolling contact fatigue, evaluation of running quality and so on. It solves running instability of the car body which results in the repairmen for wheel tread in Beijing-Tianjin line, Wuhan-Guangzhou line, subway etc. Meanwhile, it improves vehicles’ running quality and enriches the standard system of the operation andmaintenance. Those researched devices, like diagnostic system of rolling stocks, sensing devices in the online state, are widely applied in many enterprises such as CRRC, China Railway Corporation and so on.
For intelligent manufacturing field, this discipline made studies of the key technology such as the mechanical-electro-hydraulicjoint controlling system, the design and thermodynamic coupling modelof product and so on. Besides, it proposed a multi-discipline and multi-objective optimizeddesigning method. Those series of researched mechanical-electro-hydraulic products, such as the automatic fire-extinguishing equipment for fire-fighting water cannons, automatic welding machines for the end of brake beams, and the digital-controlledprocessing equipmentand so on, are authorized more than 30 national patents for invention so that a mechanical-electro-hydraulic joint controlling group, which is widely applied in the intelligent manufacturing industryand the railway system, is formed.What’s more, this discipline has made studies of basic theory and method,such as the design of the load’s compliance, the optimization of topology, the robust design, the error- control of parallel mechanism and so on, which is widely used in complex mechanical system, engineering machinery, shield machine and TBM tunneling machine. Among them, the developed testing platform, which is used to research the load’s compliance and environmental adaptability of feed mechanism, has been widely used in railway enterprises, such as railway tunnel group and engineering bureau and so on, therefore it improves the design efficiency of shield mechanism and saves the cost of production.

With the leadership of theinnovative team in the key areas of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the leading talents of National Million People’sPlan, the talents of country's 100 million, and the Ministry of Education's new-century outstanding talents forms the main academic team, where academicqualifications, titles, and age-structured are matched with each other reasonably. There are more than 20 provincial-level talents such as main academic leaders in Jiangxi Province and “Ganfan 555 Talents”, and 3 provincial-level superior scientific and technological innovative teams. It has a high level of teaching and research platform. There are 9 conditional platforms up to provincial and ministerial level, including 1 state-level educational bases for college students'out-of-school practice, 2 preeminent engineers’ training programs of the Ministry of Education, 1 undergraduate professional specialty of Jiangxi Province, 3 experimental teaching model centers of universities in Jiangxi Province, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Educational, and Collaborative Innovative centerin Jiangxi Province 2011.
The discipline has the ability to carry out high-level basic research and key technologies. It has undertaken more than 160 items of the National 863 Plan, the National Science and Technology Support Plan, the state fund, and the projects in the provincial or ministeriallevel or above, so that a total funding is over 94 millionyuan. In addition, this discipline gained more than 20 awards in provincial and ministerial level, like the first prizein national scientific and technological progress, the first prizein provincial scientific and technological progress in Jiangxi Province, the second prizein Chinese railway science and technology achievement, the second prize in national teaching achievement and so on. And there are more than 60 authorized patents of invention, more than 20 transformed items, more than 50 published textbooks and monographs. Moreover, there are more than 200 published SCI/EI papers in the past 5 years.
